Tasting Note

Maragda means Emerald in Catalan and represents the eternal youth. Maragda wine is produced/born every year, white grapes are collected at night and the whole wine making process is kept at low temperature.

Bright straw colour. Fresh and light fruity aroma together with white flowers and herbs. On the palate it is fresh, fruity (apple and pineapple) and tasteful. Light and perfect for an apero or a paella during a hot summer day.

About the winery

Family-run winery with a long tradition of growing grapes and producing wines, being one of the first ones in the town of Garriguella, to cultivate their 40 ha of wineyards and produce wine. They modernized the winery project in 2000, when Antoni and her daughter Gemma, applied new technology in the celler. They produce fresh and typically not so heavy wines respecting the surrouding nature and adapting their wines to the typical weather of Empordà. Thier wines are mostly distributed in Catalonia with minimal export rate.

DO Empordà

The Empordà wine region is located in the very North East of Catalonia, limited by the Pyrenees and France, and to the West, the Mediterranean Sea. Winters are not very cold and summers and long and hot, influenced by the breeze of the sea. The Empordà region's unique soil quality, and the combination of the sea and the mountains in a typical very strong Tramontana wind area, give a distinct character to the wines produced out of 30 years old vines. D.O. empordà has a very heterogeneous land, the majority has a sandy texture and low organic material content. The soils are largely acidic. The region's heights vary from sea level up to 300m.
