Catalonia
Catalonia has eleven D.O. (designation of origin) or certified regions. Its diverse climate and mineral richness offers a wide range of wines. Temperate climate on the coast, windy and rainy in the North, continental in its inland areas and dry summers in the South.
The region has an old wine production tradition that has only improved on the last thirty years, in search of those nuances turning them into extraordinary local wines.
Wineries
It all started with why… why can I not find extraordinary Catalan wine for a special occasion?
Our goal is to find undiscovered wineries not yet known in Switzerland. This is the reason we are focusing on small and carefully selected wineries which invest all their passion in producing an excellent product. The many years of experience of the winegrowers combined with new ideas of the younger generation add a touch which makes these wines unique.
A 100% red garnatxa wine, a 100% carinyena or a 100% xarel.lo, grapes which may not be known to everybody, yet are now available for you. There is a wine for every taste and size of wallet or in short: ‘Quality wines at affordable prices’.
We personally visited all the selected wineries, spent time with the owners and enologists in both the field and in the cellar in order to learn more about their passion and dedication. They apply high
sustainable value standards and strive for excellence paired with the very specific climate and soil conditions of Catalonia.
Celler Sangenís i Vaqué
Lo Coster Blanc surprised us by its balance between its wooden and freshness notes. Lo Bancal Granatxa, out of 100% of garnatxa variety took our breath away, and Monlleó and Vallpor made us fall in love with this family winery. Parents and children have known how to wisely combine their traditional and modern technical knowledge to obtain the best out of the characteristics that the llicorella from Priorat can offer.
Celler Castellet
Family winery since 2005 located in Porrera. Deli96 and Celler Castellet have been in contact since the winery’s inception; first when the grape collection and wine processing was only a hobby and subsequently, when it became a professional activity. We are delighted by the celler’s dedication and standing passion to obtaining an excellent quality product.
Celler Heretat Oller del Mas
“Celler Heretat Oller del Mas” unique by its tradition and location, close to the city of Manresa in the D.O. Pla de Bages in a continental climate protected from the breeze of the sea by the beautiful mountain of Montserrat. Within an area of 5’000ha the Margenat family cultivates merely a 10% of their land, produces a very small quantity of bio wine and invest their efforts in research and development to make the best of the 12 grape varieties they cultivate. Family values, respect for the environment and commitment for the local area are the pillars of their daily activity.
